The Kalamazoo Valley Museum welcomes back the Kalamazoo Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra for their annual holiday performance with two sets at 6:00 and 7:15 pm.
The Kalamazoo Mandolin and Guitar Orchestra is a plucked string ensemble of mandolins, mandolas, mandocellos, guitars, and bass. The KMGO was founded in 2003 to revive the mandolin orchestra tradition in Kalamazoo. The orchestra enjoys performing a wide variety of music including classical, world, and traditional mandolin orchestra music. We have premiered original music composed for the orchestra and have sponsored workshops with international mandolin virtuoso. This concert is free; donations are welcome.

Friday, December 15 7:00 pm Lucky Wolf Theater 404 E. Michigan Ave Paw Paw
The combined groups will perform the epic first movement of Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony and Leroy Anderson’s masterfully orchestrated medley, A Christmas Festival. The orchestra will also delve into Christmas favorites that swing and sing-a-along as well as selections from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite and Mendelssohn’s Christmas Pieces (opus 72). Finally, the concert will feature music director Brian Oberlin and Sallie Bacon playing Christmas duets.
