Music Together® Classes

Music Together® is an internationally recognized early childhood music program offering 45 minutes of pure musical fun for you and your child each week. Accredited teaching artists introduce children to the pleasures of making music in a relaxed, playful, non-performance-oriented setting. You’ll receive CDs and songbooks tied to each session’s unique experiences for use at home. The national program’s e-newsletter, web resources, and online store provide additional support for enriching your child’s and your family’s musical growth and enjoyment.

Mixed Age Classes

Instructors: Melissa Ludwa, Annie Dastoli, Angie Biehl, Taylor Fox

Music Together® Mixed Age classes are for children from birth through age 5 and their parent(s) or caregiver. The Music Together® award-winning curriculum is used in a playful, developmentally appropriate environment that utilizes singing, moving, playing instruments, and making music in a fun 45-minute class. This type of music-making is shown to enhance higher-order thinking skills in our children, supporting all learning and providing an opportunity for children to attain basic music competence before learning an instrument.

For in-person, outdoor classes: Participants will be asked to maintain a distance of 4 to 6 feet apart during class. Masks/vaccines will not be required for outdoor classes. In case of inclement weather, classes will be held online via Zoom.
WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO AMEND OUR POLICIES AT A LATER DATE IF CDC OR STATE GUIDELINES REQUIRE IT.

Rhythm Kids Morning Camp

Instructor: Melissa Ludwa

Rhythm Kids classes are for ages 4-7; parents are welcome – but not required – to attend class with their child. Class meets Monday through Friday, June 20 – June 24. Each day, students learn to compose, choreograph, and conduct as they play—and play with!—a variety of musical instruments: West African djembe drums, percussion instruments, and, the most important instruments of all, their voices and their bodies. As your big kid learns to think and create like a musician, they’ll also build musical connections to the global community. Parents are welcome–but not required–to attend class with their children.

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO AMEND OUR COVID POLICIES AT A LATER DATE IF CDC OR STATE GUIDELINES REQUIRE IT.
Rhythm Kids camp will be held at Crescendo Academy of Music.

Class Session:

For this camp we’ll be using the Toucan song collection. Each day we will dive into a specific Central American rhythm and we will add in a craft to match what we learn about Toucans and their environment. Students will choreograph their own dances, experience musical leadership, and hone their drumming and conducting skills. All songs in this collection have been chosen and arranged specifically to support each student’s music development.

Important note: There will be djembe drums for use in class. It is encouraged, but not required, that your child have a djembe drum to use. If you need an appropriate drum, we will have a high-quality djembe drum for purchase, or you may make your own arrangements for a drum.

Music Together Babies

Instructor: Melissa Ludwa

Babies love music and are primed to be music-makers from an early age.

Babies love music. This will come as no surprise to you if you’ve ever soothed your newborn to sleep with a lullaby or bounced him to the beat of your favorite song. But did you know your son or daughter is also a natural musicmaker? It’s true: We are each born equipped to respond to music from a remarkably early age; there is a lot you can do to nurture your new little musician. Making music together from the very beginning will lead to a lifetime of shared musical enjoyment. The Music Together® Babies Class will start you on the path to becoming a musical family. Specifically designed for infants eight months and younger, this 10-week introduction to Music Together allows babies to embrace, enjoy, and express their inborn musicality.
