Margaret Hamilton

Margaret Hamilton holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Susquehanna University and a Masters of Music in Applied Horn from Western Michigan University. She is a long-time member of the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra horn section, as well as a member of West Michigan BrassWorks, a brass quintet founded in 2014. A Crescendo Teaching Artist since 2013, Margaret loves working with students of all ages and abilities. She also teaches horn at Kalamazoo College. Her professional affiliations include membership in the Music Teachers National Association, the International Horn Society, and the American Federation of Musicians Local 228.

Margaret served as Executive Director of the Stulberg International String Competition from 2013 to 2020. From 1987 to 2012, she was Assistant Director for the School of Music at Western Michigan University and Advising Director for WMU’s College of Fine Arts. While at WMU, she also performed with the Western Wind Quintet, a resident faculty ensemble, from 1994-2010.
